Meet the Heart Behind The Savage Feast
Hey there — I’m Anne, and I’m so glad you’re here.
The words you’re reading, the photos and videos you see, and ramblings about life in the garden — they’re all from me. But make no mistake: The Savage Feast is not a one-woman show. It’s a shared life, lovingly built by me, my husband Chris, and a lively crew of four-legged companions (and one three legged).
My husband, Chris, is the heart and hands behind so much of what we do here. From starting seeds under lights in our little basement greenhouse to pest warfare and troubleshooting the countless challenges that come with gardening, Chris is an equal partner in every step. Without him, The Savage Feast would not exist in the way it does today.
We live on a acre tucked just outside Dexter, Michigan. About a quarter of it is carved out for our gardens — raised beds, a sprawling vegetable patch, and pockets of herbs and flowers. Here, we live a life rooted in our love of plants, animals, good food, and a commitment to a vegan lifestyle that feels both joyful and deeply right for us.
We share this land with a small pack of wild souls: our two dogs, Bug and Greta, and our three cats, Rey (named after the Jedi hero!), Monkey, and Boo. If you wander into our garden on a warm evening, you’ll probably catch us on what we call The Garden Tour — a slow, meandering garden stroll where the cats trot along on their own Paw-trol (because someone has to inspect the garden beds). It’s as magical and ridiculous as it sounds, and you’ll see plenty of glimpses of it in our updates and social posts.
This space — The Savage Feast — is a place to share the things that bring us joy: fresh food, homemade meals, daily adventures in the dirt, and the small, beautiful moments that stitch a life together.
We’re so happy to share it with you. Welcome to the Feast. 🌱🐾
